The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 11.1

Plato Video to PSP Converter is a video conversion tool. It allows you to convert RM, FLV, WMV, DivX, XviD AVI, and MPEG files into MPEG-4 videos that are playable by the Sony Playstation Portable and Sony Playstation 3, among a variety of other playback devices. It looks like the video conversion profiles available are optimized for video playback on the PSP and PS3, though.

First off, I would like to note that I couldn't get this application to work. From the first time I launched it, I thought the user interface was slow and unresponsive. Whenever I added a file, I had to wait a few seconds for the application to respond to commands again. I tested it with two different files, an FLV file and an AVI file. Both of those formats are supported by this application and are relatively easy to convert. After choosing the conversion profile (I tried them all), the application crashed and I got a Windows error dialog saying that an unexpected problem occurred and bla bla bla. I can't really diagnose what the problem is, but I noticed that the application was calling FFMPEG a lot when it launched, maybe it is depending on it too much. FFMPEG is a free video encoder and decoder that comes bundled in a lot of codec packages. It takes care of decoding video for third-party video players when they don't support a specific codec, for example.

So, unfortunately, I can't say whether this converter will work for you or not. You can download the trial version and test it for yourself. It might work for you.
  • Good design.
  • Limited format support.
  • It crashes.
